How’s your day coming along?

Imagine loosing the one person who knows you better then any one else. That’s how Jesus began His day, with the news of the murder of his cousin John the Baptist one of the closes people to Jesus on earth. John was not only Jesus cousin he was his friend, and partner. John understood Jesus more then just about anyone else. Now imagine that the same man who murdered John is now threatening Jesus too. Imagine the feelings of loneliness, rejection and fear that Jesus felt. The Bible states, “When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place”.

But before Jesus executes his getaway the disciples arrive to report to him the things they had done and taught. But they did not arrive alone about five thousand men with out counting women and children had followed them to where Jesus was. They came from all over with the hope of meeting the man who the disciples followed. A calm day turned into turmoil and mayhem. So Jesus decides to hop aboard a boat to lead the disciples to a quiet place, perhaps to reflect and to find some peace and quiet. But Jesus plans would be interrupted because the crowds heard about it and decided to follow him on foot. What a day!

Hebrew 4:14-16 MSG

Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.

The life of Jesus is a constant reminder of God becoming a human just like you and me so that we would be assured that our savior, healer and comforter knows and feels our deepest hurts. He placed himself in our position and experienced stress; the aching of loneliness, the pain of rejection and even the agony of death. Jesus knows how you feel. And He did what he did for one reason he did it for you. So that when you hurt you would come to him to take his mercy and accept his help.
