For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.

– Romans 11:36 NIV

There is a divine potential to every aspect of your life. There is a divine potential when it comes to your family, your job, your hobbies and there is a divine potential when it comes to who you are and who you will become. God created you for His glory and for Himself.

As Nehemiah and the people were busy rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem that lay in ruin for more than 150 years, unbeknownst to them, something else was taking place in the background. This something was not visible to them, but once the task was competed, it became evident to them. As they focused on the task of rebuilding the walls, God was executing a parallel plan that ultimately gave their task a much deeper meaning.

While Nehemiah immersed himself in the task of rebuilding, God was preparing the stage to demonstrate His power (glory) to the surrounding nations.

Nehemiah 6:15 NIV

So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth of Elul, in fifty-two days.16 When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God.

Those same individuals that had previously threatened, intimidated, mocked, and that attempted to fool Nehemiah now recognized that this was a God thing and not a man thing. Notice who received the glory once the task was completed; it was not Nehemiah or the people of Jerusalem who took so many risks and made so many sacrifices. At the end of it all, God received the glory.

It was with the help of God, that Nehemiah and the people were able to rebuild the wall in just fifty-two days; a task no one was able to accomplish in more than a 150 years. As they worked on the wall, God was working on a parallel plan to regain His glory among the nations. As they executed their divine purpose, they received the blessing, but God received all the glory.
