Time is money, is a famous phrase that Benjamin Franklin used in advising a young manual worker. Oh, but time is so much more valuable than money. You see, you can always make up for lost or wasted money but you never can make up for lost or wasted time. You can save your money but you cannot save your time.

Our lives are lived in stages; from children to teens, from teens to adults, from adulthood to elderly and each one of these stages are temporary and cannot be relived. You don’t get a second chance at your first birthday, or a second chance to be a teen; actually you don’t get a second chance at any stage of life.
For most of us this is a bit of bad news because we cannot go back and make up for the time we wasted or misspent. The good news is that we can presently schedule our time in a way that would reflect what is most important in our lives.

“Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

The way you manage your time can become a strenuous and even complicated task, but it’s really quite simple. You should manage your time in a way that prioritizes your love for God and for others. Then use the remaining balance of your time for all the other stuff. Remember, you cannot make up for lost or wasted time.

Based on today’s Bible passage, how would you spend your time if God were in charge of your schedule? Well, that’s what we should do; to allow God to influence the way we spend our time. It’s that simple.

Heavenly Father, it’s so easy to lose sight of the truly important things of life. At times it even seems like time is working against us. Allow us to spend our daily gift of time in a way that reflects what is most important … our love for you and for others. May I never become so busy that I don’t have time to love.
