The world offers us an overabundance of goals and achievements from which to choose. However, we are tailor-made by God with a specific and divine purpose. You were made to do something that will have an impact beyond your lifetime all the way into the eternal. If you were to look back on your life and all the goals you attained outside your divine purpose, you would realize that there had to be more to life than simply accumulating stuff. If you were to look back at all that accumulated stuff outside of your tailor-made purpose, more than likely that stuff will no longer elicit any passion or motivation.
Secular accomplishments will never satisfy your soul regardless of how many you achieve. Only by discovering God’s divine purpose for your life will your soul be satisfied. After all, you are God’s prized creation, His workmanship, divinely and uniquely crafted into His image and likeness, with a divine and specific purpose. God did not use a cookie cutter to make you, nor did He press you into someone else’s idea of what you should be or do. You are unique; there is no one like you. As you pursue God’s divine purpose for your life, you will discover how indispensable His purpose is for your life. You will also discover how individual and unique you truly are.
Psalms 139:13-14 NLT
You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
Since God has created us with a divine purpose, we do not have the right to live purposeless lives irrespective of the number of goals and achievements we have or want to attain. At Calvary, we surrendered our rights to take our talents and abilities and run in the direction of our choosing. Why would we as Christians, do anything other than pursue God’s divinely crafted purpose for our lives? What can be more fulfilling than God’s purpose? Missing out on God’s purpose has to be the single greatest tragedy in a person’s life.
It is critical that you discover and take part in God’s divine purpose for your life; you were created for it. Life is brief and it goes by fast. If God has a purpose assigned to the allotment of your years here on earth, then you better get on to it. Divine purpose, it is what you were made for.
Psalms 139:23-24 NLT
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
