Money, It Makes The World Go Round
Laughter and bread go together, And wine gives sparkle to life— But it’s money that makes the world go around.
– Ecclesiastes 10:19 MSG
Let’s be honest, how many of your problems could be solved if you just had more money? The truth is that for most of us life would be simpler if we just had more money. Think about how much simpler your life would be if you didn’t have to worry about paying a mortgage, rent, credit cards, or loans?
Some years ago I asked a friend on mine who happens to be a very wealthy man to tell me what he believed to be the secret to financial wealth. His answer amazed me because it was so counterintuitive. He said the secret to successes is not how much you make but rather how much you give away. He went on to show me actual examples of the wealthiest people in the world. He showed me how in any given year they would give away up to a billion dollars and the following year their wealth actually increased. The funny thing is that I’ve known this man for many years and I’ve seen him make a lot of money and I’ve seen him lose it all and become wealthy again. As I look back there was one thing that had always stood out about him and it was that he gave when he had and he gave when he didn’t have.
Deuteronomy 15:10 ESV
Give generously to him and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.
Luke 6:38 NLT
Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”
Malachi 3:10 MSG
Bring your full tithe to the Temple treasury so there will be ample provisions in my Temple. Test me in this and see if I don’t open up heaven itself to you and pour out blessings beyond your wildest dreams.
The secret to wealth is not about how much you can make it’s about how much you can give away. It’s that simple.
Heavenly Father, I know I should give more and I should give more often. Show me how to loosen my grip on my money. I’m ready to experience the simple joy of being generous like you.
