Preparing for Something Better
“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity”. – Seneca
We should never be complacent; there is always room for better. Your life may not be where you want it to be, but there is always something better ahead. You may or may not have a good job, but there is a better one out there waiting for you. You may or may not have a good marriage, but no matter your situation, it could be better. In every area of your life, there are better things awaiting you. But if you are ever going to grab hold of them, you will first need to prepare for them. Complacency is a roadblock to better but preparation is the pathway to something better.
By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household … Hebrews 11:7 NKJV
The time you spend preparing is never wasted time; preparation is the roadway to better things. The problem with preparation is that you are working towards something that has yet to happen. Noah had to build an ark in the middle of the desert before the first drop of rain had even fallen. The people around him did not see the need to prepare; they were complacent. To them Noah was a foolish old man who was wasting his time. That was until the rain began to fall. Once the rain began to fall however, it was too late to prepare.
Preparation requires faith, and faith requires action. Preparation requires you to believe something is going to happen and faith requires that you do something about it before it happens. James the brother of Jesus wrote: “faith without works is dead.” In other words, what you believe is of no practical value unless you act upon it. Therefore, it’s of no practical value to get on your knees and pray for God to change your circumstances and then get up and not change your actions. As the saying goes, “by failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”
