The Right Time Pt. 2
“If I knew then what I know now, I would have done things differently”. – Unknown
It’s been said that mankind’s most valuable gift is time. And, until the day a person dies, everyone receives the same 24 hours each day. The problem with time is that it only moves in one direction, forwards. As much as I would like to I can’t go back in time, if I could I would have invested in Apple, Netflix, Google and so many other corporations. I would have avoided some bad decisions and I would have made some good ones too. Time is our greatest gift; the problem is that you can’t save time you can only consume it. So, being that time moves in only one direction, how do we make the most of every second and or opportunity that we get?
Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. – Ephesians 5:15-17 NIV
Making the most of every moment and opportunity we get:
Here’s a simple question that will help you to make the most of your time, what is the wise choice? For most people the question is, is it legal or not? Is it a sin or not? But in light of the fact the time moves forwards, and since we can’t go back in time or save time the question we should rather ask is, is this wise? Is this a wise choice for me? Is it legal to smoke cigarettes? Yes, but if you’d like to make the most of your time a better question is, is it wise for me to smoke cigarettes? Obviously, the answer is no, it’s not. Is it legal to get drunk (assuming you are not behind the wheel of a vehicle or operating machinery, or flying a plane)? Yes. A better question is, is it wise to get drunk? Making the most of every opportunity you get is to ask yourself, what is the wise choice and not if it’s legal or illegal, a sin or not sin. The question is not even, what is everyone else doing? The question is, what is the wise choice for you?
We’re living in some difficult and evil times, but God does some of his best work in times like this. We need however to understand the times, live carefully and choose to make wise decisions. Remember time only moves in one direction so take advantage of each and every moment by asking yourself, what is the wise choice?
