Your Worst Enemy 2

There is one common denominator when it comes to the problems and difficulties you have experienced, in those times when you have felt unhappy, and in every hurt, hang-up, and bad habit situation, and that common denominator is you. If you are ever going to choose to be happy you must first come to the realization that you are your worst enemy. Not only are you the common denominator in all of your problems and hardships, you also are what causes of a wall of separation between your Heavenly Father and you.

Jesus said, “come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest”. This invitation is for everyone. Your circumstances or situation does not matter; no one is excluded. Choosing rest and happiness begins when we realize that we need more than help from Jesus, we need to come to Him and allow Him to do for us what we have not been able to do for ourselves. In yesterday’s blog, we discussed pride and guilt as being two barriers that prevent us from accepting Jesus’ offer. Today I would like to add few more:

  1. Fear

Many times our fears are grounded in falsehoods. Regardless of who you are, where you have been, or what you have done, each time you come to Jesus, He will welcome you with open arms.

Anyone coming to Me I will never reject.- John 6:37 TLV

  1. Worries

Just like a parent who is crossing a busy street and grabs their young child by the hand and does not let go, so your Heavenly Father will never let you go.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8:38-39 NLT

  1. Doubts

At times, when we look at our past, present, and future circumstances it is easy to doubt that God wants to work in our lives.

God who began is good work within you will keep right on helping you to grow in his grace until His task in you is finally finished.  – Philippians 1:6

With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” – Matthew 19:26 NIV

“If you have faith as small as a mustard seed… nothing will be impossible for you.” – Matthew 17:20

The size of your faith is not what matters; where you place your faith is what matters. In any and all situations, come to Jesus and place your faith in Him and watch and see what He does.
