THE CURE TO DEATH
Why do we die? Science answers the question from a purely scientific point of view whereas Christianity answer the question from a supernatural point of view. But it might surprise you to find out that when it comes to dying, science and the Bible actually agree. Science believes that we die because our cells over time degrade themselves causing our body’s organs to shut down. And, the Bible teaches the same thing, that we die because our bodies and all of creation are decaying.
Science and the Bible agree that we die because we’re decaying, what they don’t agree on is what causes our bodies to decay. Science believes that death is the result of the evolutionary process or the circle of life. But the Bible teaches us that our bodies are dying because they’ve been infected by sin.
When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. – Romans 5:12 NLT
But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! – Romans 5:15 NIV
The reason we die is that our bodies have been infected by sin. The problem is that science does not recognize sin as the cause of death. Science recognizes heart disease, cancer and all sorts of infirmities. Science also recognizes crimes and accidents. But the Bible says that the reason we die is that all creation has been infected by sin.
Sin entered the world thru one man but to compound the problem all men have chosen to sin and sin brought decay and death to everyone. But thanks to God thru Jesus the cure to sin has been offered to all man. But the same way that everyone dies because they’ve chosen to sin, for everyone who chose to accept the gift of salvation thru Jesus there is a cure from sin.
Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this? – John 11:25-26 NIV
